New Study Reveals Dangers of Prescription Painkillers

A recent press release issued by the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) in the US outlined the risks of prescription painkillers, particularly for women. The numbers are staggering: 6600 women died from prescription pain medication overdose in 2010, four times more than died from cocaine and heroin combined. CDC Director Dr. Tom Freiden stressed the importance of trying alternative treatment options for pain, something chiropractors have been talking about for years. Alternative treatments for muscle, joint and nerve pain include chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture and physiotherapy. Not only are these options often more effective than drugs, they help avoid the pitfalls of potentially addictive painkillers. The risk appears to be higher in women because of the fact that they are more prone to chronic pain. To read the entire press release, refer to the link below:

If you or someone you know is relying on painkillers to treat muscle, joint or nerve pain, make sure they have considered safer options like chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture or physiotherapy.
